Working
with GRA
Our staff needs to work very closely with a manager's investment
and administrative staff to gather information and data for
the construction of marketing materials, as well as database
information for consultant questionnaires and RFP's. The initial
set-up takes approximately three months. From then on, this
becomes a quarterly update routine.
Once the
sales effort begins, GRA will set up meetings to be attended
by both a GRA sales person and the investment professionals
with the goal of meeting as many search consultants as possible
during the first year. It is expected that representative
professionals should expect to travel eight to ten days per
quarter. Of course, in the event of final presentations, which
are rarely planned in advance, an investment professional(s)
will be required to attend.
GRA carefully
alerts our manager/clients not to expect any new business
within the first year. However, it is rare that we go through
one year without garnering assets under management for our
clients. We have worked with managers who have been awarded
new accounts in one month, and also managers who have waited
for eighteen months. Not surprisingly, the more willing the
manager is to travel and to provide GRA with the necessary
information we need to effectively market the product, the
better the odds of success!
We desire
long-term, three to five-year contracts, which is indicative
of a successful relationship. However, there are production
incentives in our contracts allowing either the manager or
GRA to terminate the arrangement if these goals are not met.
GRA typically
receives an annual retainer fee of $75,000 from our manager
clients to cover basic expenses. This is all-inclusive and
the manager will not be charged extra amounts for GRA's travel
and entertainment, marketing materials or mailers for your
firm, postage, or any other expenses, such as the attendance
of professional conferences by our staff to improve our sales/marketing
skills.
In addition,
GRA charges a percentage of the management fees for any new
clients we bring in. Most importantly, we do not get paid
this percentage unless we produce the business.
